WIP Wednesday, 11.21.12

Good morning and happy Thanksgiving-eve! Headed to my in-laws tomorrow for dinner at 4, which means LOTS of crochet time in the morning/early afternoon! Which is good because I am still trying to build up inventory and this last week was a slow one.

I have a little owl in the works, another Fresh Stitches design. The two major parts -- head & body are done so now it's just the little details that make him an owl to finish. Should be done tonight, that's my goal anyway.

I also have another project that needs a boarder and to be blocked, but I am not going to show that just yet as it is a gift. I will show you soon enough don't you worry.

I guess it would be considered an FO but I re-organized my studio yesterday and now has more room for yarn and a spot for shipping supplies. Most of this is thanks to the fixtures & boxes I got from Sears while it's in liquidation. It went from this:
To this:

Much more yarn storage as the shoe holder (white plastic thing on the left in the top photo) could only hold 24 skeins. Now I can stack the skeins & balls and get much more in the same area with the new shelving. I also used two metal risers on the back of my work table which gives me much more working area. Now to just use it! Which is actually where I am heading once this post is complete and posted on Tami's Amis with all the other WIPs in our yarny blogasphere :-)

FO Friday, 11.2.12

Thought I would have a larger project to show you today as well as my little owl. However we had the appraiser come to the house yesterday so I felt that my crochet time would be better used as cleaning time. So one FO Friday is a super clean house, and I love it!

I do have a little miss Maria the Owl to show you today. She is headed to Indianapolis. She is a Fresh Stitches design and super cute as always.

Now on to more little critters, and some hats as I just got new yarn in :-) My stash is growing, but buying yarn is so addictive!

See others finished projects over at Tami's Amis!

Year of Projects, Week 4

Year of Projects List
• Floor Poof
• T-Shirt rag rug
• Crochet clock
• Yarn bomb something
• Crochet dress for Adult Prom 2013
• Liam's Blanket
• Carson's Blanket

On Wednesday I posted about the awesome yarn score I got at Marden's (a surplus store in Maine). All of the yarn I got was for YOP projects! This first set is super nice Cascade -- some of the nicest yarn I have bought to date. These came from the LYS Quiltessentials and will be for the Purple Stitch Project Penguin.
This set is what I got at Marden's about $100-$150 worth for $30! SCORE! The Aqua & some of the Chocolate will be for my purse. The gold, carrot & chocolate (guessing on these colors as they only have #s listed) will be for mom's wrap. And the purple will be for more Purple Stitch Projects!

That's it for today! I don't have to get ready for work for another hour and a half so I think I will spend that time with hook & yarn! Come Blog-a-Long with your YOPs!

WIP Wednesday, 7.18.12

So I really thought this guy was going to skip being a WIP post. I am so close to completion that I can taste it! However, last night as I was finishing him up I sewed his leg to the bottom of his foot instead of the top so he had two left feet. If I hadn't made one toe bigger than the other two this wouldn't have been a problem, but I did, cus, well, it's cute that way! After a bit of cursing and the ever-so-smart husband saying, "Maybe that means it's time to stop crocheting and go to bed", I gave it up and he is still a WIP -- not for long though!!!!

Check back on Friday to hear more about this little guy :-)

Because some of my Year in Projects projects have some tricky patterns I decided to get the Crochet Sampler Cowl workshop on Craftsy.com. I started it yesterday and this is what I have so far.

I also HAVE to share the yarn score I got last night! I posted this photo to my Facebook page as I went to the LYS (Quiltessentials) and got some very nice Cascade yarn (nicest yarn I have bought to date) for the Purple Stitch Project, they even gave me a discount as it was for the PSP!

So my friend Amie saw this post and told me that Marden's was just putting out a slew of yarn. If you've never been to or even heard of Marden's, let me tell you, it's always an experience! It is a surplus and salvage store, so a warehouse has water damage, Marden's will buy up what's still good, a company makes too much of something, Marden's will buy it. Then they will sell it for SUPER cheep!!! You can get most anything there, furniture, clothing, food, flooring, appliances, however the slogan is "You should have bought it, when you saw it, at Marden's" and that is so the case because stuff doesn't stay there long and who knows what's going to come in next! So I jumped off the couch last night after seeing that comment and went back into town. So glad I did though! I spotted some boxes that still hadn't been unpacked that said Coats on it so I know it's all Red Heart yarn, and man was there a ton of it! I really should have taken a photo now that I think of it...... But at least I got a photo of what I bought! I tried to look up the style #s online but couldn't find anything. My guess is that this is probably $100 worth of yarn. I paid $30!!! The best thing is that I got the yarn for 3 projects on my YOP list!!

So that's been my week so far (well mostly just my yesterday). What have you got for WIPs? Show your stuff over at Tami's Amis. You know I will be!
