FO Friday 3.1.13

Been a little quiet on the blog this week and I apologize, I was on vacation (YAY!!!) and I intended to post while away but I ended up being sick the whole time (BOOOO!!!). Lets just say it was a very restful vacation.

But I do have some FOs to show you!

FInished the second of the pair of Penguins as well as an all Purple Penguin. All three are for a member of my bowling league.

For the black penguins I used spare acrylic - Red Heart Super Saver in black, white & grey tweed
Mystery Marden's Yarn in shiny hot blue
and Everyday Soft in baby yellow
And for the Purple Penguin I used Mystery Marden's Yarn in three shades of purple
Used the momma penguin pattern from Amigurumi World

Next I was able to complete a little moose for my friend Aly, her sister-in-law just had a baby and went moose hunting while 6 months pregnant so she thought this would be a great gift for baby Hudson, I agreed. She also asked me to sew his initials on the paw.

Pattern: Moose from Crocheted Softies by Stacey Trock (Fresh Stitches)
Yarn: Bernat Super Value in Rustic Heather, Red Heart Super Saver in white & black

I had a lot of resting time on vacation like I had mentioned so I was able to actually work on something while watching tv -- although it didn't go quickly as I got tired easily -- I probably got more done because I was sick and inside instead of out and about actually enjoying myself. What's nice is that I have a finished project to share and it's NOT a stuffie AND it's for ME!!! Not usually the way things go around here, but I intentionally brought "me" items on vacation to work on :-)

Yarn: Marden's Mystery Yarn in Hot Blue & Chocolate Brown

I really like it and will use it a lot. Was originally thinking of making it my project bag, but will have to line it if I keep with that thought as I could see myself loosing a lot of hooks that way.

Hooking up with Tami's Amis to see all the other FOs.

Check out my Facebook Page for more photos of these and other projects! While you're there, "Like" my page :-)

FO Friday, 2.15.13

Good Morning! Hope everyone had a great Valentine's day! My husband & I will have to postpone our V-Day date seeing as I worked all day yesterday and when I mean all day I mean working 6am (leaving the house at 5am) to 3pm, driving the hour home, taking an hour nap then going to the bowling alley to waitress until 10pm (the regular waitress called out). Long ass day! But I don't need a special day to show Kevin how much I love him, so postponing doesn't bother me.

So I didn't get much crochet work done yesterday either. However I did get to finish up and photograph two items to share with you today!

One of the 3 penguins is finished!

I used spare acrylic - Red Heart Super Saver in black, white & grey tweed
Mystery Marden's Yarn in shiny hot blue
and Everyday Soft in baby yellow
Used the momma penguin pattern from Amigurumi World

I also finished my special order Trash Can! This was a bit of a challenge with the stuffing of it, but I am happy to say that I found a solution in baby bumper pads! This way it is able to hold its shape without being too lumpy. The customer requested that I make it open on the inside so that things can be put inside, so the bumper pads helped with this too.

Yarn: Bernat Super Value in Kelly & True Grey
Knit Picks Brava in White
Red Heart Super Saver in Black
Pattern: Created my own :-) If there is interest I will post it.

Mr. Penguin couldn't resist playing Oscar the Grouch....

Hooking up with Tami's Amis for FO Friday!

FO Friday, 1.4.13

So apparently I have to train my fingers to type & write 2013...

Anywho, lots of FOs to show you this week, so I'd best get started!
So to start I have three cell phone cases I made for our bowling team mates.
Case #1

Case #2
Case #3

Pattern: None, free form made them, will post how either this evening or tomorrow morning
Yarn: Leftover variegated acrylic yarn, most likely Red Heart. (This was some of the first yarn I bought)

Next up was the Penguins. I finished the boy one last week but added the finishing touches and completed the girl this week.

Pattern: from Amigurumi World
Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver in Black & other leftover acrylic yarns (one of my goals for 2013 is keeping better track of my yarns)

Now for another FO, Denny the Giraffe:

Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver - Cornmeal & Bernat Supervalue - Rustic Heather

All of the previous FOs today are for people on our bowling league. Just show's how much bringing crochet to bowling gets people interested. The next two are for people at work, another place I bring my crochet for down time. First up is a Bunny (who was the first finished project of 2013):

Pattern: Woolly Jumpers
Yarn: Bernat Super Value - True Grey. Grey & White Tweed style acrylic yarn, possibly Red Heart.

And last but not least, a Zombie Kitty:

Spencer the Zombie Kitty is ready for his cameo on the Walking Dead
Pattern: Japanese Ameniko Pattern translated by Oh the Cuteness!
Yarn: Bernat Supervalue in Grass & Red Heart Super Saver in Tea Leaf.
I did a few things different on this Spencer, used a different color yarn (in the past have used the Tea Leaf as the main color & black for the paws) this time went all green. Also made a "bite mark" on his arm where I chained some and skipped the same number of SC's while going around. This allows for the stuffing to show through. Patched it up with a simple cross stitch in black. Also photographed him on my green screen background so that I could superimpose him into this photo from the Walking Dead. (Which is a super addictive show, even for a super scardie cat like me!)

Starting this week at the end of my posts on Fridays you will see an updated counter, it will show the total # of projects finished so far in 2013.

As always, checking in with Tami's Amis for FO Friday!

PS... look for something new this Sunday!

FO Friday, 12.21.12

Before my husband and I eloped we had talked about getting married on 12.21.12 and having this song as either what we walk in with or as our first dance. However we jumped the gun and "got hitched" in October of 2010.

But we are still here :-) So here are my finished projects for this week.

Two more scarfs:

A penguin:

And Lewis, the Tree Frog:

That's it for this week, wish I could have more to show you because that means more from my list are done! Checking in with Tami's Amis to see other FOs!

WIP Wednesday, 12.19.12

Good Morning! Anyone else feel the Christmas crunch? The last few years I have been so busy with work that Christmas seems to sneak up on me. I really don't know how that is possible since they start playing Christmas music at work on November 1st (way too early in my opinion).

Anyway it is almost here and I have been spending most of my non-working hours fulfilling orders and making gifts.

Today's WIPs are orders. One is the first of a boy & girl pair of penguins, the other is a hat, do you remember the hat that gave me so much trouble before with the bulky yarn? Yeah well, it's back, and I have already frogged it once...

This little guy just needs wings and feet and an accessorie to make him either a boy or a girl. I'm not even going to bother showing you the hat as it has just as much a chance being frogged again as being finished.

Checking in with other WIPs over at Tami's Ami's.
