FO Friday, 6.21.13

Happy First Day of Summer!! I have one finished project to show you today, and it will be a quick one as I am going to try to get an hour of crochet in before I need to go to work (was supposed to be my day off, but what can you do?)

A very pink owl for my college roommate Hilary. She has one of the tiny owl's from Fresh Stitches as well and with a new baby on the way will have a second tiny one and a daddy owl coming her way. :-)

Yarn: Lots of Pink Acrylic! One Pound in Soft Pink, Red Heart Super Saver in Shocking Pink, Light Raspberry & White

Checking in with Tami's Amis.

FO Friday 12.7.12

Two items to show you today. One is my usual amigurumi but one is a little different for me. Another Fresh Stitches Owl, this time made with bulky yarn and I extended the body a bit too so it's a bit bigger than the ones I have made in the past. She stands about 11" high and the yarn makes her super plush and soft, I used KnitPicks Brava Bulky.

The next was a kind of no-thinking-easy-keep-my-hands-busy type of project, and I really like how it came out! I have had some really pretty Cascade Pacific yarn in my stash for a while now, left over from the purple stitch project. It just so happens to be in some of my favorite colors and matches my winter jacket (go figure). It is a chain stitch infinity scarf. I have to keep this one for myself, however there may be some more made to sit under a Christmas tree sometime here.

Checking in with Tami's Amis to see other finished projects. Happy Weekend! (I'll be working)

WIP Wednesday, 12.5.12

Have a long list of orders that need to get started & finished. So this will be short & sweet so I can get back to crocheting.

Right now I am working on a big owl for my friend Sarah. It is a FreshStitches design that I have added a few rounds to in the body to make it even bigger than using a bulky yarn did. This will be my first Amigurumi using bulky yarn. I am using Brava from KnitPicks and really like the feel of it.
Here is my owl so far...

Linking up with Tami's Amis and getting back to working on my owl.

FO Friday, 11.23.12

How did I miss this??? Last week I showed you the Moose and two hats. Well that same week I also finished a UK Wildcat. Here are those photos as well as some more of Byron the Moose and of another Maria the Owl I finished yesterday. Hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving (for those who celebrate it) and aren't getting trampled in Black Friday shopping today. All are Fresh Stitches patterns except for the Cat and the gift.

I also started and finished this little guy yesterday -- All I can say is he is SO FLIPPIN CUTE! I may have to keep him for myself! I brought him to Thanksgiving dinner with me and he enjoyed himself.

I also finished the gift I have been working on and will show that next Friday as the recipients will have it by then.

Happy Friday! Checking in with others and their Finished Items over at Tami's Amis.

WIP Wednesday, 11.21.12

Good morning and happy Thanksgiving-eve! Headed to my in-laws tomorrow for dinner at 4, which means LOTS of crochet time in the morning/early afternoon! Which is good because I am still trying to build up inventory and this last week was a slow one.

I have a little owl in the works, another Fresh Stitches design. The two major parts -- head & body are done so now it's just the little details that make him an owl to finish. Should be done tonight, that's my goal anyway.

I also have another project that needs a boarder and to be blocked, but I am not going to show that just yet as it is a gift. I will show you soon enough don't you worry.

I guess it would be considered an FO but I re-organized my studio yesterday and now has more room for yarn and a spot for shipping supplies. Most of this is thanks to the fixtures & boxes I got from Sears while it's in liquidation. It went from this:
To this:

Much more yarn storage as the shoe holder (white plastic thing on the left in the top photo) could only hold 24 skeins. Now I can stack the skeins & balls and get much more in the same area with the new shelving. I also used two metal risers on the back of my work table which gives me much more working area. Now to just use it! Which is actually where I am heading once this post is complete and posted on Tami's Amis with all the other WIPs in our yarny blogasphere :-)

FO Friday, 11.2.12

Thought I would have a larger project to show you today as well as my little owl. However we had the appraiser come to the house yesterday so I felt that my crochet time would be better used as cleaning time. So one FO Friday is a super clean house, and I love it!

I do have a little miss Maria the Owl to show you today. She is headed to Indianapolis. She is a Fresh Stitches design and super cute as always.

Now on to more little critters, and some hats as I just got new yarn in :-) My stash is growing, but buying yarn is so addictive!

WIP Wednesday, 9.19.12

Only a little bit of crochet ADD this week....

From left to right:
• Pieces of an owl, feet, eye circles & top of the head.
• The first few stitches of a scarf for myself using Poems Silk yarn that I got on sale at Craftsy.
• The first motif of my purse. Bought the pattern ages ago, finally starting it. The pattern is written poorly and I find myself having to guess as to what I think she means. I should do the second motif as written in her pattern and see how that comes out...
• Worked a bit more on motifs for Liam's blanket.

So what does this all mean? It means I need to get off the computer and actually crochet so I can finish something :-)

Checking in this week with Tami's Amis.

To-do Tuesday, 9.11.12

So the blog has been a little light lately. I think it's my new job and its schedule. With my old job I used to leave the house by 8 at the earliest, so waking up at 6 and blogging while I had my coffee still let me sleep a bit and also left me time to get ready for work. My new job has had me leaving the house at 6:30, so to be able to blog w/ coffee and get ready to go by then I would have to be up for 4:30.... Yeah, that's just too early for me. So I will have to get in the habit of either setting up my blog posts the evening before and scheduling them for the next day, or writing them when I get home, usually around 3:30-4 in the afternoon.

An update for the To-Do Tuesday, gives an idea of what's on the list, what is slow going, what is getting done, and what I need a kick in the ass to get working on! What's on your To-Do List?

FO Friday, 7.27.12

So I had posted this from my phone, or so I had thought, now there is no draft even of it on here let alone a post.

Oh well! Here is my FOs for this week
 A little Owl named Maria
A hat for my California girl Brady -- She loved it so much she slept in it.
A Baseball hat for Mr. Charlie Man -- Brady's brother Luke also got one -- will get a picture up once I get one.
A wine cozy for my aunt's 60th b-day.

All FOs were for family besides the Owl, had a great time at our little family reunion! Here is the whole gang:

We range in age from 13 months to 94 years. <3

Linking up with Tami's Amis as usual :-)

Maria the Owl

Maria is a shy but brilliant little owl. Possibly from asking "Whoooo?" all the time.

Maria was made using the Nelson the Owl pattern by Fresh Stitches
Pretty much love all of Stacey's patterns! Made her with white, heather grey, teal & orange acrylic yarns from my stash. Used my first set of Suncatcher Eyes (Go-Go-Maine-Crafters!)
Want me to make you you're very own owl? Check out Maria on Etsy!
